My latest FREE Story on the Novelo platform might be for you if you like: dark thrillers; unusual takes on holiday themes; references to the 1980s "Satanic Panic"; paranormal; and multiple trigger warnings.
There are 20 chapters - ALL FREE as of this moment in time (I know! Merry Christmas to you too!) and is, of course, a candidate for the monthly Novelo contest.
Fun Fact about this piece: It's been rattling around in my head since I was 18 years old! Yup! It's been there for over 30 years, folks. I started it many times and never finished. I never knew which direction to go with it. All I knew was the lead was named Sarah and she had been kidnapped by a cult. Maybe a few more tiny details, but that's it.
(Mother Mars - another story that was once on Kindle-Vella, but will now be published into book form, has also been in my head for over a decade. Much like SCH, I simply didn't know how to get it from point A to point Z.)
Another 'win' for SCH is when I was promoting it on the good old BookFace just earlier today, someone gave me the good old Angry react. With my Rejection Sensitivity Dysphoria, normally this would have upset me. But it didn't - because horror tales aren't meant to comfort, so I must be doing something right.
